IMPORTANT NOTICE: Dredging of Stormwater Pond 1 Forebay

From: "SV Residents" <no-reply@PROTECTED>
Date: July 30th 2025

Dear Symphony Village Residents,

Please be advised, the dredging and restoration of the stormwater pond forebay at Pond 1 is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 11. The project is expected to take approximately one week, but no more than two weeks to complete, weather permitting.

For reference, the forebay is the smaller, shallow basin located where water flows into the stormwater pond. Dredging the forebay removes accumulated sediment and debris that can reduce the pond’s effectiveness in controlling runoff during major weather events and negatively affect water quality. This process is necessary to support the long-term health and function of the community’s stormwater system and to ensure continued compliance with local government and environmental regulations.

To meet regulatory requirements, the sediment and debris removed from the forebay will be temporarily placed in the turf area between Pond 1 and the cul-de-sac at the end of Symphony Way to dry. Once the material has dried adequately, it will be hauled offsite in trucks for proper disposal. A map showing the approximate location of the sediment/debris drying and equipment staging area supplied by the contractor is provided below for your reference.

What to Expect During Work:

  • Heavy construction equipment and contractor vehicles (including those with back-up alarms) will be onsite. Noise and increased activity should be expected during work hours. Construction traffic may be heavy at times.
  • Work hours will be approximately 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, weather permitting. Hours may be extended in favorable weather conditions.
  • A temporary odor due to the removal of organic material and sediment from the pond is likely. While this is a normal and expected part of the dredging process, it is understood that the odor may be unpleasant.
  • Access to the asphalt walking path at the end of Symphony Way will be limited to an approximately 4-foot-wide area. Please exercise caution and be mindful of the equipment and activity in the area.
  • Minor seepage of sediment, liquid, or debris from the trucks onto nearby roads may occur during transport to the offsite disposal location. The contractor will clean the affected areas at the end of each workday and as needed.
  • Restoration of any disturbed surfaces, fixtures, and/or turf will be completed, returning all impacted areas to their original condition upon project completion.

This project has been scheduled during the summer to expedite drying time and minimize disruption to residents and the community. Please note that significant storms or rain may postpone or delay the project. Any scheduling changes will be communicated promptly.

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as this essential maintenance project is carried out. We understand and apologize for any inconvenience this work may cause.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the HOA office at 410-758-8500 or  rwagner@PROTECTED.

Sincerely,

Symphony Village HOA Management
