Good Night, and Good Luck is a historical drama set in 1953 during the Red Scare and the Cold War. It tells the story of the conflict between veteran journalist Edward R. Murrow and Senator Joseph McCarthy and the importance of free media and journalism. The title comes from Murrow's signature sign-off phrase, which he used on his radio broadcasts from London during World War II. 

George Clooney starred in the 2005 film Good Night, and Good Luck as Fred W. Friendly, the producer and right-hand man of CBS news anchor Edward R. Murrow. Clooney also co-wrote and directed the film.
