Green Thumb Industries (GTI) -- Odor Mitigation Presentation Results
On June 12, GTI briefed SV on the status of its odor mitigation strategy and recently installed molecular filtration equipment. Since the meeting in January with the Centreville Town Council, GTI has hired Byers Scientific – a top odor mitigation engineering company – to investigate, conduct testing, and develop and execute remediation plans. Equipment was installed and turned on in May to filter odors from various processes (growing, drying, production) conducted in their buildings. While GTI reported that virtually all odors have been eliminated based on their testing results (you may have noted differently), we still have the summer/fall outdoor growing season to monitor.
PLEASE NOTE - GTI has asked residents to email the company if any odors are detected identifying the smell's date, time, and description – skunky, lemony, other, etc. Please email this information – titled SV Odor Complaint – to jeff.armstrong@PROTECTED and copy patfoxsv@PROTECTED so she can stay on top of any trends.
GTI and Byer Scientific will continue to monitor and test their processes and molecular filtration equipment output. Interestingly, GTI admitted that their efforts at odor mitigation in Centreville may become a proving ground for the cannabis industry overall to adopt.
Thanks, Pat Fox
