New Water Meter Installation by the Town of Centreville

Date: May 9th 2022

Dear Symphony Village HOA Residents:

The Town of Centreville is beginning efforts to enhance water meter readings and data transmission efforts. Portions of Symphony Village will undergo a meter replacement and modernization upgrade during the month of May with the remainder of homes to be completed on or around September/October 2022.

The first phase of the program will consist of installing and replacing water meters and the second phase consist of installing an antenna within the community to effectively capture real-time meter readings and usage. The meter modernization program will allow Town staff to receive detailed reporting, identify anomalies earlier, and observe trends in water usage.

Program Phase I: Meter Installation

  • Project Timeline:
    • ~May 9, 2022 - ~May 30, 2022
  • Project Duration:
    • Phase I is currently slated for ~3 weeks. (Week 1 - 3 days onsite, Week 2 - 2 days onsite, Week 3 – TBD) (possible Saturday installations and schedule are subject to change)
    • Phase II will commence on or around September/October 2022.
    • Phase III – (if required) - TBD
  • Meters:
    • Phase 1 ~150 meters will be installed at Symphony Village.
    • Phase 2 ~250 meters have been ordered to complete any remaining Symphony Village upgrades.
  • Contractor/Installer:
    • VEPO, the installation contractor, will be identifiable by uniform, badge and hi-visibility vest (unless we’re experiencing warmer weather the vest may be removed) ~ 2-3 installers will be in the community during the installation window and the process should take no longer than 30 minutes per unit for installation including 15-20 minutes of water disruption. We kindly request that residents check that their water meters are not covered by planters, mulch or other obstructions.
  • Post Installation:
    • Once the new meters have been installed by the VEPO technician, they will hang a door tag outlining how to flush the line. To flush the water line after installation, residents will start by turning on one to two water taps in their room, these can include tubs and sinks. Allow the water to flow from the taps for approximately 3-5 minutes, which will clear the air out of the mainline, flush any discolored water, if any and resume normal water flow.

Please don’t hesitate to contact the Waste and Water Treatment Plant Project Manager, Jenial D. Turner, PMP, at 410-758-1180 or jturner@PROTECTED with any questions or concerns.

Thank you.
