Covenants Committee                  Chair: Jane Diepenbrock

At the August 6, 2025 Board of Directors’ meeting, The Board of Directors approved two exterior paint color books.

A Paint Team was formed by the Covenants Committee in August 2024 and the team worked diligently with the shutter, siding, and paint companies to develop the two new books. The new books are intended to help homeowners choose aesthetically pleasing paint colors for front entry doors, shutters, foundations, and even siding, while conforming to the existing design standards established within the community.  The Covenants Committee would like to thank Norm Bossie, Pat Glaunert, Peggy Decker, and Debi Wells Hooper for their work on this project.

The two Exterior Paint Books are:

  1. The Exterior Shutters and Front Entry Door Paint Color Book

This is a revision of the 2019 Exterior Paint Color Book. It includes three new colors for shutters and front entry doors, and twelve new colors for exterior front entry doors only. It also features a page of frequently asked questions (FAQs).

There are two sections of the book.

Section 1:  Paint Colors for Front Entry Doors and Shutters

The design standard within Symphony Village is that the Front Entry Door and the Shutters must be the same color, unless the shutters are black.  This section contains the approved colors for both shutters and front entry doors.  These colors may also be used for front entry doors on homes with black shutters or homes originally built with not shutters.  If the front entry door is painted one of these colors, then any front entry storm door may be white or the same color as the front entry door.

Section 2:  Additional Paint Colors for Front Entry Doors for Homes with Black Shutters or Homes Originally Built with No Shutters

If a home has black shutters or was originally built with no shutters, then a homeowner has the option of using these twelve colors on their door, in addition to the colors in Section 1.  If the homeowner chooses to use one of the paint colors in this section, then any front entry storm door must be white.

The Covenants Committee has the discretion to approve and disapprove any color combination based on whether it is aesthetically pleasing and based on the color schemes of adjacent homes.  Certain color combinations may not be appropriate for a particular siding color, stone color, brick color, etc.

Note: An EMF is needed to change the color of doors and/or shutters.

  1. Siding Colors and Foundation Paint Colors Book

This is a new book which includes samples of various siding colors found in the community along with matching paint colors for foundations. The design standard requires that foundation colors match the siding color.

This book serves two purposes:

  • It may help residents identify the name and manufacturer of their siding.
  • It provides color chips or paint formulas for foundations that match the siding.  All paint formulas from Price Gannon Ace Hardware have been saved under Symphony Village, so they will be easy to find by the Ace Hardware employees.

If your foundation is in need of a fresh coat of paint, this book will help you find a color match.  Let the paint store personnel know that you will be painting an exterior foundation so that you purchase the appropriate paint for the job.

These books may be found at the HOA Management Office.  The books may not be removed from the Clubhouse.  If you would like to borrow a copy of either of these books, or the Awning Color Book, please contact the chair of the Covenants Committee.   The Committee has made an extra copy of each of these books, which may be signed out by residents.
