Greetings Symphony Village Residents:

As noted in a previous eblast, the COVID-19 Pandemic is proving to be one of the biggest and unanticipated challenges for individuals, businesses, and communities alike. During this unprecedented time, your volunteer Board Members are tasked with making difficult decisions and acting in the best interest of the community.

The Board received multiple inquiries regarding the reopening of the Clubhouse and outdoor pool over the weekend. Please note that Governor Hogan’s executive order, as amended on May 13, 2020, requires that all Recreational Establishments remain closed to the general public (including members, in the case of private clubs). Additional facilities that are required to remain closed at this time include but are not limited to fitness centers, aquatic centers, social and fraternal clubs, senior centers, restaurants and bars, pool halls, and more.

Please note that Anchor Aquatics drained and cleaned the outdoor pool, repaired pool tiling and coping, replaced a handrail to meet code, refilled with water and is working toward getting the pool chemically balancing as approved by the Board of Directors at the March 6, 2020 meeting. The pool is being prepared so as not to leave a large body of stagnant water in the community and so there is no delay WHEN the time comes to reopen. This work is NOT an indication that the pool and/or Clubhouse will be reopening within a certain timeframe.

A few of the many considerations being taken by the Board and Management as it relates to the reopening of the Clubhouse, in no particular order, are as follows:

  • How to best serve the community and the feasible options to do so
  • State and Local orders and guidance
  • Balancing the difference of opinions throughout the community
  • The potential for liability and future legal issues
  • Availability of disinfecting wipes, hand sanitizer, etc.
  • Enforceability of gathering restrictions
  • The safety of residents and staff
  • Enforceability for governmental requirements like the wearing of facemasks and social distancing and other state, local and federal recommendations
  • The capability of the three (3) staff members to enforce restrictions in addition to completing critical functions required to facilitate the day to day operations
  • Implementation of more frequent cleaning and sanitation for indoor and outdoor surfaces

This is NOT a guarantee for a timeframe in which the Clubhouse will be reopened. This is information only. The Clubhouse and outdoor pool will remain closed until further notice.

At this time, it is the consensus of the Board that the Clubhouse and outdoor pool will open simultaneously WHEN opening is determined to be safe and feasible. As you know, the COVID-19 Pandemic and the situations and requirements surrounding this are always changing. Much of the information relating to the COVID-19 Pandemic is released in a way that provides little-to-no forewarning to all those on the receiving end. The precise timeframe and restrictions for reopening certain facilities remain unknown. The general guidance the authorities have released thus far is being utilized as an evolving plan is developed for when the time comes for the Clubhouse to be reopened.

Please take advantage of the resources that Queen Anne’s County has put into place to provide concerned citizens with the opportunity to speak directly with a local professional about the reopening process. The QAC Call Center can be reached at 410-758-9900, Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This is a reminder that PuroClean Emergency Restoration Specialists completed a COVID-19 risk reduction cleaning in the Clubhouse on Tuesday, March 31st. The cleaning focused on high-touch points including but not limited to doors, trim, light switches, water fountains, counters, restroom and locker room fixtures, etc. The cleaning included the application of high-grade disinfectant. The crew wore personal protective equipment (PPE) when completing the cleaning. Maintenance Technician, Nick Oliver, oversaw the cleaning and continues to wear PPE when in the Clubhouse. A deep cleaning of the Clubhouse will be scheduled prior to reopening.

Finally, please be reminded that staff can be reached by phone at 410-758-8500 during normal business hours, Monday – Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. if you have any questions or concerns. You can also email the General Manager, Rebecca Cook at gm@PROTECTED, and the Executive Assistant, Kimberly Cox at receptionist@PROTECTED. Staff is readily available and reachable in all ways other than person to person contact.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Symphony Village HOA Management
